Essence Of Sorrow - Reflections Of The Obscure

Desde una de las cunas europeas del estilo como es Finlandia llegan Essence of Sorrow, dispuestos a arrasar con todo. Fundada por el virtuoso guitarrista de Divinefire, Jani Stefanovic, el sexteto demuestra en este disco de debut que saben muy bien lo que hacen. Su música, llena de melodía, rebosa también potencia a raudales, con solos de guitarra vertiginosos y una pegada de batería de lo más furiosa (cortesía del señor Rolf Pilve, de Dreamtale). Si a todo esto le añadimos una portentosa voz como la de Christian Palin (Random Eyes), unos estribillos contagiosos y las colaboraciones de lujo del voceras Mats Levén (Therion, ex-Yngwie Malmsteen, At Vance...) o el bajista Andreas Olsson (Divinefire), entre otros, es muy difícil que el resultado deje indiferente a los degustadores del metal técnico a la europea.
Cañonazos como la inicial Face Of Death, Ashes, o The Mirror te dejarán un buenísimo sabor de boca.

Principalmente mi inspiración proviene de Dios, pero por supuesto escucho mucha musica y por supuesto me veo influenciado por muchas bandas que me agradan, mas trato de no copiar el sonido o las ideas, mas trato de mantenerme apegado siempre a mi propia vision musical, que es lo que Dios ha puesto dentro de mi corazon.

En aquel entonces eramos llamados Beheaded, fue en agosto del 93 y fuimos la primer banda en toda la historia de Mexico que tocaba Death Grind con mensaje de la cruz, fue muy duro ( y lo sigue siendo) luchar contra el legalismo, la religion, las costumbres, etc. Fuimos rechazados muchas veces de eventos en los cuales podiamos participar inclusive fuimos boicoteados en algunos conciertos por bandas seudo Cristianas hasta nos bajaban del escenario, Fuimos llamados satanicos y pervertidores de la palabra uno de nuestros integrantes murio una semana despues de nuestro primer show pero aun a pesar de todo eso logramos mantenermos hasta hoy en dia.

Este es el tercer trabajo de lament, ifluenciados por grupos tan dispares como Iron Maiden, Inflames, Paradise Lost, es decir que tienen bastantes influencias del heavy metal tradicional aderezado con melodia y ligeros toques death. Para mi gusto este es su mejor trabajo, me quedo por mucho con el tema As an Eagle Flyes.

Comenzamos con la discografia de esta banda brasileira de metal gotico, formada en el año 1994, debutaron con un demo llamado "Confort In Truble" en el 98, despues presentaron "Gothic soul" en 1999, corria el año 2004 cuando vio la luz (para mi gusto su mejor trabajo) "A Matter Of Time", y en el 2006 regresaron con su ep " Lost Essence ".
Muy buena banda, disfruten su musica.
